The Economy

I don't believe it's as bad as it's being made out to be. In January when Obama gets into office the mood of this country will change drastically. I do believe we are in a recession, but by next summer I think things will start to improve. I also believe that by next Christmas we are going to be in a great place. This won't last very long. Trust me.

President-Elect Obama

I was right.

He will win. And I couldn't be more thrilled.

As I predicted in February. He's one step closer.

David Cook.

I got it right. See the post below.

Jason Castro

OK. So I admit it. I was wrong about him. (See below). Who knew the guy would give up. In the way that Syesha has focused and come to play over the past few weeks - Castro just folded in his hand. Too bad. If he had the brains of David Cook he'd still be around.

So my updated predictions....and this by no means is an easy one to call...

3. Syesha
2. Archuleta
1. Cook.

I know...risky....but if I'm right I look like a genius.

The future of the Record Business

The other day over a rock shrimp tempura roll at Sushi Roku I had lunch with a a friend of mine Mark who works for a company called Colligent. I like this company he works for because it's built upon a smart premise. They have developed a way to scour every single MySpace page for information pertaining to bands. They then sell this information to labels so they can market to those kids directly about the music they've already shown affection for. No longer will labels have to "guess" whose those kids are. In the past they mainly relied on conventional media to get the word out about their bands. Colligent is changing the landscape.

That said a couple things have to happen for this to have a profound on the record business. Firstly, Colligent has to sell it. They have to come up with a way to pitch this idea to labels so they will understand it, and secondly the labels have to come to terms with this new way to market music to their consumer. Too often labels don't look at their consumers like Proctor & Gamble does. We've spent the better part of the last 50 years trying to get radio to like the music, or trying to get Best Buy, WalMart etc to buy it. Those days are over. Colligent and companies like it are changing the landscape and for the better.

LinkedIn

I am sold on this thing.  If used correctly, and as intended which is for business and networking purposes it will have a long life.

If it turns into something else of which there are tons of....then it will fail.

Let's hope for the former.

Barack Obama

I am hearing all the press commentaries on Barack, and how he is on a roll, it's a phenomenon etc. I do think he will be our next President, but I don't believe it will be easy. She is a fighter, and I don't think she'll be nice about it. Just a hunch.

Sweeney Todd

Don't get it.  I saw it, thought it was terrible.  How he wins a Golden Globe, and the film does for Best Picture.  Ridiculous.  The soundtrack is even selling well......it's drek.
